Q: Using Pages on iPad mini retina

We opened Pages & were looking at the list of documents saved when it suddenly went blank showing the message "No documents".  We have now been unable to find those documents, so would appreciate any help in restoring them & stop it happening in future.  Needless to say they were work-related & not backed up - I know, will do better in future.

Thanks

Janet

Amendment to question - we can find the files listed on iCloud in Settings, so if the files really are there, how can we transfer them back into Pages to open them?  Not sure if this makes sense, as iCloud is a bit of a mystery.

I assume that you mean that you see the documents in Settings>General>Manage Storage>Documents & Data>Pages. I would also conclude that if you see the documents in there, them they must still be in iCloud.

First close Pages completely and reset your iPad and see if they reappear.

In order to close apps in iOS 7, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.

Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

IF the the documents still haven't appeared on the iPad, you can go to iCloud.com on a computer, log in, click on the Pages icon and see if you can find them in there. If necessary, you can download them to your computer and then transfer them back to the iPad using iTunes file sharing.

    iOS: About File Sharing

Something else that might work is to delete Pages from your iPad and then install it again. If the files are really in iCloud, you will lose them when you delete the app, but they will download from the cloud again when you reinstall Pages. I have done this a few times when I was having problems with Pages. But be aware that this will not work unless the documents really are in iCloud.

Thank you so much - it was the last suggestion that worked.  Reinstalled Pages, files were in iCloud so all is well.
