Apple Tv using HDMI over Cat5

We installed a new apple TV to our new projector, I ran HDMI over Cat5 about 65'. I tried every resolution on the Apple TV & no go, on some resolutions you get a distorted image for a few moments then gone. Once I connect a HDIM cable directly to the Apple TV, no problem. Can someone please tell me what the issue is?

Thank you so much.

It's probably the HDMI over Ethernet box... (I use the acronym E-HDMI for HDMI over ethernet)

The Ethernet standard says 100 meters is the max (includes 5/5e/6/7) so 65' should be nothing for a network device.

I cannot comment on how good E-HDMI is as I don't use it because I can't rely on it.

Stick the ATV on top of the projector, will save you lots of headache from using E-HDMI.

Also, I have seen that Monoprice may make a better E-HDMI adapter, might want to look at that.

It looks like the distance possible varies depending on the resolution and the particular adapter you are using. For example the following can do full 1080p only up to 30metres.

If as your message implies you are only going 65 feet and you are using Cat5e cable I would not have expected a problem. Are you using Cat5 or Cat5e? Which adapters are you using so we can check their specs?

Note: Even if you are playing lower resolution videos via the Apple TV, the Apple TV itself might be running at a higher resolution and it is the resolution the Apple TV runs at not the video resolution that is the important factor.
