Hi, Orrin Milbert , and welcome
(i have a Powerbook, not a Macbook - thus perhaps my advice is not useful for you; but i'll try anyhow.)
if I understand right you first had your MacBook connected by ethernet, and now you try to use the wireless AE base station - right? Further, I assume that you turned on Airport in your MacBook.
I would reset the AE Base station. Note that there are different levels of reset. If you just tried for the first time to connect, you can do a "Factory reset" by holding the rest buttom when plugging the thing into the power socket. You should then see an "APPLE-something" in the "Internet Connect". If that is not the case, then there are 3 possible faulty situations:
a) the AE base station doesn't work;
b) the airport card in the MacBook doesn't work;
c) there seem to be some softwaresetting in the MacBook which can make it not work correctly.
case a): you would have to see whether any other computer can see your base station;
b) : if your Macbook can see other networks, the airport card works.
c) , I have no clue, since I don't have a MacoBook.
However, if you see the "APPLE-something", then open Airport Administration utility, select the base station, click on "Configure", type the password (see your AE manual) and set up the network. I would do this first as an open, unprotected network. Your MacBook should see this and connect then to internet.
If this doesn't work, please post back.
Success, Thomas
