how to uninstall MACVX/spyhunter

You installed the "VidX" trojan, perhaps under a different name. To remove it, first open the Applications folder by selecting

Go ▹ Applications

from the Finder menu bar, or by pressing the key combination shift-command-A. Look for an item named "VidX," "MacVx," or similar. If present, drag it to the Trash and empty.

From the Safari menu bar, select

I too didn't have any of the files mentioned in my Applications folder but as has been mentioned I did have the Macfest Extension installed in Safari. Check your Safari/Preferences/Extensions for Macfest and uninstall it.

I had just upgraded the Adobe Flash Player and then the ads started so I suspect it was installed by Adobe.

OMG, this is why my safari got really2 slow (and busy all the time!) argghh..

when i just uninstall the extension, the ads still there. i can't find the macvx in my application folder, so i just uninstall my adobe, and surprisingly the ads gone!

Omg I thought I was going to have to reset my computer thanks a lot! I just got it over a month ago and the pop up ads were driving me nuts!

I trashed the extension in Safari preference and I no longer need "Adbloc"

it can also appear as an extension in safari called macfest. even though they say macs do not need a virus program, i am installing one

You can also on Chrome, go to preferences, extensions and uninstall the program.

I see that it is also called Macfest. Cheeky tinkers. Many thanks for this - sorted me out, too.
