Safari won't let me open photos on Facebook. What can I do?

I'm using the brand new MacBook Pro 13 inch. Safari won't let me open any photos on Facebook. They're visible as I'm scrolling through my news feed but I can't click on them to enlarge them or look through the album. I'm wondering if that's because of a security setting? I looked at Safari's settings and tried unblocking popups but that didn't help.

Are you running a separate popup blocker? Some reports of images not opening were due to some ad bllocker other than what Safari has built in.

Do Safari Preferences > Extensions pane and turn off all extensions. Restart Safari and test in Facebook
