Apple Support Communities,

Now listen carefully kappy...This is just for your information..I know you are a better expert than me in computers,I can understand it from your support community ratings.First of all let me tell you that I am not an ordinary support member in Apple support communities. I am a professional in computer hardware and softwares especially in Mac and Windows.I spent my life's past 18 years almost 18 hours a day in computers. Now just leave this topic, coming to our topic...

The plugins i wish to remove was Google Talk Plugin, Google Talk Plugin Video Renderer and Kaspersky Password Manager Plugin. The first 2 Plugins I got a solution yesterday,i.e. Google has provided a help option webpage on how to uninstall those plugins. These are the details...

Uninstall the plugin

To uninstall in Windows:

  1. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  3. Scroll down to find Google Talk plugin.
  4. Click Remove, then Yes, then Finish.

To uninstall in Mac OS X:

  1. Open Finder and then open the Terminal application.
  2. Copy and paste the following command into the window: open /Library/Application\ Support/Google/GoogleVoiceAndVideoUninstaller.app/Contents/MacOS/GoogleVoiceAnd VideoUninstaller
  3. Press Enter on your keyboard.

I have attached the copy of the print screen image of Google webpage For Plugin Uninstaller.User uploaded file

Now the only remaining plugin is Kaspersky Password Manager Plugin. I just need an Uninstaller|Remove option for this plugin same like Google.

Safari plug-ins are located in the /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ folder. The best way to remove one is to use an uninstaller for the plug-in if one were provided. Otherwise, you can select the unwanted plug in, CTRL- or RIGHT-click, and select Move To Trash from the context menu. Quit then restart Safari.

I have a feeling we are talking at cross purposes. I went to the Kaspersky website and found this link: How to uninstall Kaspersky Internet Security for Mac. I'm not sure if it addresses your problem. I'm not familiar with Kaspersky's software, so forgive my ignorance.

When I don't have an uninstaller for software then I usually uninstall the software manually. I'm sure most of what follows is familiar to you, but in particular is the use of the freeware utility, EasyFind 4.9.3, to search for the software components based on the developer name or the software title. Usually Easy Find locates the files quickly. It doesn't have the peculiarities of SpotLight yet it's pretty fast.

I hope this is helpful. I appreciate your expertise which may well exceed mine substantially.

Uninstalling Software: The Basics

Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.

Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.

Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.

Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.

Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS. Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.

If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term. Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default. You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.

Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder. Usually with the same name as the program or the developer. The item generally has a ".pkg" extension. Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.

There are many utilities that can uninstall applications. Here is a selection:

1. AppZapper

2. AppDelete

3. Automaton

4. Hazel

5. AppCleaner

6. CleanApp

7. iTrash

8. Amnesia

9. Uninstaller

10. Spring Cleaning

Apple Support Communities,

There's no uninstaller for the mentioned plugins. Uninstaller is only available for Java, Adobe Flash Player and Quicktime Plugins. Those 3 Plugins are needed for me. I wish to remove the other three ( Google & Kaspersky Plugins).

The right click option doesn't works on safari plugin window. This goes as follows...

Safari->Preferences->Security->Manage website settings->...shows all the plugin listings. I wish to remove the mentioned 3 plugins from this listed window.

Regards,

VIJAY
