Bogus phonetic "false false" added to contacts

I am also experiencing the same false; false. It occurs with some existing contacts as well (not edited). Have you found a solution?

Same, here! iPhone 5. Started with just a couple of contacts I had updated. Now, it's almost half of my contacts. They all show up under the "F" section. Has something to do with the Phonetic Name, which is a new one to me. Wondering if it's a bug...But want it fixed ASAP! Anyone know anything yet?

I am experiencing the same thing on my iPhone 5 AND my iPad. Any new contact added or any contact that gets edited goes to phonetic false false and stored under the F's. Both my devices are up to date iOS 7.1.2

My email is Yahoo. I'm wondering if this is specific to Yahoo. My husbands email is Gmail and he doesn't have this issue.

I have just started getting this on my iPhone 4S this week - mine are also relocated to the "F" listings - I am able to delete these false entries which show under a new "phonetic first & last name" category, but they always come back within a minute or two.

I then tried using iTunes to Restore my iPhone and thought that it had cured it, but the same thing occured.

Looking at how recently this has started ,I'm guessing that it's a bug - just upgraded last week to ios 7.1.2 so I'm guessing that's the cause and assume that Apple will be sorting this out PDQ!!!

Just to note that I am also using Yahoo based email (well Sky actually - but uses the Yahoo platform of course). Hopefully unrelated but I have also just installed the "Find My Friends" app this week and also linked my Calendar to my wife's iPhone 4S and that is causing a few issues as well.

All very odd and disappointing as I've never had any issues with my iPhones till now and I started using them 5 years ago!

I'm sure Apple will sort this out quickly though 😉

Hmm.... I am also syncing up to YAHOO contacts...... may be a bug with the new release between apple and yahoo. Wouldn't be the first time. All looks fine on YAHOO contact end, but get the phonetic false false when the sync takes place on IPAD and IPHONE, no matter where I add/edit a contact from.

Same here....also using Yahoo Contacts. I deleted entry & started to re-enter....all fine when I looked the contacts list on phone until I went to enter address. I'm not sure if it was the address that tripped it into the False False or just that it finally sync'd.

Place all of your contacts to your iCloud email account. Then go to settings and turn off the other email contacts list.

This should help.

AAh if only... Sorry JEM54 but perhaps you don't quite understand the problem - that won't work. Not that simple, but sure wish it was.

I'm using an iPad. I'm setting up my old iPad 3 for my mother in law. I've noticed this "false false" phonetic name problem. I have a storng feeling it is a non-compatible database between apple and yahoo. This certainly must have happened recently as the name sorting started changing to the F section on me in real-time...

System

• iOS 7.1.2 on iPad3, LTE, 32G
• Yahoo.ca account, using default Yahoo mail/calendar setting.

Here is what I tried so far:

• Tried factory reset of the ipad and start over, problem still persists. What a waste of time... sigh. I thought it might have originated from and old iPad icloud restore point. Not the case...
• Tried using CardDav, that didn't work either.
• Tried to enable/disable Siri, thinking that phonetic names is a field that is invoked by Siri... Not the case.

All this to say, I'm out of options. I hope this saves time for anyone who wants to try to debug this. I certainly waste a few hours going now where.

So far, There's no way around this until something is fixed on Yahoo or Apple's end.

I had the same issue with my yahoo contacts both iPad & iPhone.

I'm having the same yahoo issue first with my iPad Air and now with my iPhone.

My husbands phone has the same problem bogus false false entry on contacts. He has a yahoo email too. Any ideas how to fix this? He is ready to take it back and give up on this dumb smart phone!!!!
