Q: Need software for 3GS

I haven't used my 3GS for a while and I was going to update it and Restore it and give it to my nephew, but I am getting the "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone. The requested resource was not found." Any idea of if there is a disk or a file that I could download that has the software I need. My iPhone won't turn on or anything. When I plug it in it just has the apple on it. If it's completely done with that's fine, but I just wanted to try and restore and update it for my nephew. I wish I knew what software was on it:/

That would come from iTunes. Be sure you have the latest updated version.

well duh! lol I know that but my itunes is completely up to date as well as my Mac. I tried turning my firewall off and rebooting my computer. Nothing works.

Well duh, if you know that, then you know there is no "disk or file" where you can get any software to put onto an i-device; you have to get it from iTunes. Right?

See this discussion: "The requested resource was not found" is what comes up when I try to restore my phone. Help!

Try to connect in recovery mode, as explained here:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device

Has the software on the phone been modified in the past? If yes, jailbreaking the phone might prevent it from getting restored again with the original firmware.
Unauthorized modification of iOS can cause security vulnerabilities, instability, shortened battery life, and other issues
