Magic Mouse not working in Windows 8.1 via Boot Camp

Hi,

I'm using Windows 8.1 on a Mac Pro 64 bit with Mavericks.

On an internal SSD I installed Boot Camp 5.1.5621 and Windows 8.1.

Everything is working fine, except for the Bluetooth mouse, which is not recognized.

If I try to add the Bluetooth mouse via Settings/Change PC settings/PC and devices/Add a device, the system can't see it.

The Bluetooth icon is not visible in Device Manager:

I remember that with Windows 8 for a while I had the same problem, till it was solved after installing a generic Bluetooth driver, but now I don't remember where I found it and which it was.

I have been looking for that piece of software for months, I've tried with many, but with no result.

I've been googling any kind of article, doing many trials, with no result, and I'm getting crazy. 😢

The Apple support directs me toward Microsoft support, while Microsoft support directs me toward Apple support.

Maybe that with 8.1 there are no chances?

Or there is a workaround?

Can someone help?

I already tried to remove all drivers, but with no result: the system can't see the Bluetooth mouse.

They are some bitcoin miners (that I use in Mac OS X: you can see the picture below).

I installed the Bluetooth unit in a second time: it's a Cambridge Silicon Radio unit.

If I'm not wrong, I remember that in Windows 8 I found a piece of software that helped me, like a kind of generic Bluetooth driver, and that after installing it I could see the Bluetooth icon in Device Manager...

In the Bootcamp USB drive that you created, in the $WinPEDriver$ folder is the Broadcom BT driver.

Can you check About This Mac -> More Info -> System Report -> Bluetooth and confirm what your hardware actually is?

In the$WinPEDriver$ folder I can see the same files I see in yours: I'm enclosing a picture.

I'm enclosing also the picture of the About This Mac -> More Info -> System Report -> Bluetooth window, describing the hardware.

In windows it sometimes helps, just to remove a "misbehaving" device in the device manager. So open the entry "Mice and other pointing devices", right klick all entries and remove them. Reboot into Windows. Windows then adds present devices again on itself on reboot.

With the mouse, it becomes a bit tricky just after removing, because your (i guess working usb-mouse) will stop working as well, you will have to reboot with key-commands.

I just installed everything exactly a you did, i discovered, that it takes some time, until the bluetooth mouse started working. Furthermore: your mouse is not in sleep-mode? Just press and hold the mouse for about a second to wake it up. (flashing green on the bottom)

BTW: what's behind the "other devices" with the question mark? I could indeed be a corrupted BT-installation. Do trash that first as well, if it is not something else you have in your system.

Yes, you're right: that is just the Bluetooth radio button I'm desperately looking for.

Running the setup.exe inside the BootCamp folder, the driver should have been installed, but throughout the fantastic Windows 8.1 system there is no trace of bluetooth... 😕

How can I contact the host?

I have a 2,1 Mac Pro (2007), with Mavericks and boot.efi patched: I could not bear to have a powerful machine, on which I have invested a lot of time and money, with a 32-bit firmware that couldn't work with the latest OS.

The moment of a new Mac Pro will arrive, but at the moment this Mac is still giving me great satisfaction.

I did contact the hosts. The Image is still here. I had asked them to delete it. It is better to be safe. 😉

MacPro's are good machines, the 2013 one has some reported issues with Bootcamp and some ATI GPU issues.

If you download the Bootcamp drivers only via the Bootcamp Assistant to a USB flash, do you get any drivers. The other option is to look for a driver here - http://www.csr.com/products/technology/bluetooth

Thanks a lot for your interest in deleting the image!

The new Mac Pro, aside from its performance, with its cylindrical shape has an incredible charm, but I'll wait for a while before buying it, until the issues are resolved.

Unfortunately tomorrow I'm leaving for a long trip: I will take with me the MacBook Pro, and the Mac Pro will stay at home to rest.

When I try with the other driver you pointed out, I'll tell you the results.

It's time to go to sleep now for me.

Go to your first screenshot - the windows device manager: Dropdownmenu "View", tick the entry "show non present devices". This should list additional devices. Any unknown stuff in there? Trash all the unknown devices with a question mark and restart Windows.
