Q: creating a pdf after upgrading to mavericks/cannot communicate with printer.

i recently upgraded to mavericks. i have office 2011 installed. when i am trying to create a pdf in word, i get an error message that says word could not communicate with the printer. however, if i print something it works. this does not happen with any other program. this did not happen before upgrading to mavericks. help? thanks!
