Quicktime 10 saving audio as mov files
When I make a recording using Quicktime 10.2, the only SAVE AS choices are mov, or for iPhone Cellular or iPhone. Why are there no choices for an audio file like mp3, AAC or AIFF?

.mov is just a "container" for the codecs used in the file.
QuickTime has never exported as .mp3. AAC is the audio codec used in your file and it is not a file format (container). AIFF is the file format used in audio CD's and I think iTunes can still export to it.
In QT 7, you had choices to Export the audio as AIFF, AU, and Wave. In QT 10, I see no Export feature at all. Only SAVE or SAVE AS, and the choices are only MOV, iPhone or iPhone Cellular. In tutorials I've watched (Macworld's Chris Breen 7/13), the SAVE options are MOVIE or AUDIO ONLY. Is perhaps that a feature of a newer version than the QT 10.0 that I have on my iMac running 10.6.8? I stated earlier that I had 10.2, but it's actually 10.0.
QuickTime Player 7 is the only version that can be upgraded to Pro and it does include Export options.
If you had version 7 Pro it's been moved to the Utilities folder.
