After restoring iPhone other apple id is asked

I bought iPhone from second hand from owner. When I bought there was disabled iCloud on his phone. Then to check if everything works I entered my iCloud account and it entered fine. But after I restored iPhone to erase all settings, now it asks somebody's apple id. I know it is not mine and owner's.

1. How this can happen?

2. If this possible situation how can I know full email k*****@icloud.com to contact with this person?

Hello InYan

What you are seeing is Activation Lock and to have it removed, the previous owner would need it to be removed. If you can contact the person that you purchased it from, they should be able to do that for you. Check out the article below for more information about Activation Lock.

Hello Gail from maine

My problem is the same, but the circumstances are different. the iphone 4 i am having the trouble with is mine, first hand, bought t 3 years ago. i used it all the time, using an apple id i created using the email in the office i worked. at the end of 2013, i bought an iphone 5, and gave my daughter the iphone 4. setting the iphone 5 i used changed it from my office mail to another. did it in all of my other apple devices. at some point i tried to make my daughter a new apple id, and chose not to sync with icloud, but than after some time, i started using icloud, which made a mass, because she suddenly got all my contacts in her phone and i got hers. anyway, my main point is that we are not dealing here with privacy issues, its not a second hand iphone!

i saw your advice regarding removing the device from previous owner and fallowed it - i used my apple id, found the iphone 4, it was offline, erased it, turned off the iphine 4 as explaind and still - it's saying that the iphone is linked to an apple id - which is not mine! i guessed that maybe i made this apple id when trying to make a new one for my dautghter, the first letter is like her name (her name is Romy and the apple id is: "r.....@icloud.com"), but i have no idea what it is! trying to use the "forgot apple id" system also didnt help since choosing the option - send e mail, didnt get to any of my functioning mails, and trying to use the safty questions also didnt help since it told me that the birth date i'm giving is wrong!

i feel that all these safety actions that are supposed to help me protect my privacy, are working against me. can you think of a way to help?

(i called apple and sent them emails, but got no response yet)

thank you!!

Call Apple again. Have on your hands when you do:

1. Possible names for Apple id - you had came up with those, so do you best and think hard.

2. Possible answers to security questions - literally write those down before call in different variations.

3. Proof of original purchase - get your hands on one for your own sake.

Good luck.

And know the serial number of iphone 4 - if you don't get IMEI or MEID from carrier.
