Of course you can use a wireless printer. Mac is almost like any other computer. The only things a Mac isn't good for is like gaming unless you install Windows.
More than likely you can use almost any printer. BUT, there are some printer manufactures that seem to always lag behind on updating there drivers for the newer Operating Systems. The best way to check is go to your Printer Manufactures web site and check to see if your Operating System is listed and your printer is in there list.

That is something you want to check. I haven't ran into any printers that isn't supported by Mac other than my dad's old HP Designjet500 plotter. If you do have to get a new printer, I would suggest something by HP. We never have any issues with those printers.
Actually for the most part Apple use generic Unix based Cups printer drivers rather than manufactures own.
This can however limit some advanced functionality.
Today there are virtually no printers on the market that wont work out of the box .
All WiFi printer work because Apple are the leaders here including designing the AirPrint protocol for use with iOS devices
Choose Cannon, Epson, HP, Kyocera , Lexmark without any problems.
Only some rather older printers "that may be available used" may have cause for concern with driver issues with current OSx versions.
This Apple Tech note lists the printers for which drivers are available in Software Update.
Unlike Windows PCs, you can plug in almost any printer and the Mac will automatically install the printer without any disks. A Mac is still a computer, the only difference is the operating system.

We've used Epson printers and they were total junk. Every single one broke in less than a year of purchase.
