Macbook Pro DEATH ? Black / Blank Screen

Hi

I currently have issues with my Apple MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo 2.2 15-Inch (SR) - MA895LL with a possible GPU issue

Iver pulled out my old macbook pro, booted up, heard the apple startup tone, the light came on but screen remained blank

ive read many issues with this happening regarding the faulty NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT card in some macbooks, and that there was a warranty for 4 years untill 2012 ??

Can anyone tell me if my MBP would be in the effected line of MBPs with the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT cards in them ??

Is there a fix to this problem ?

what exactly has happened, in order to have the MBP working again will the motherboard need to be replaced ?

Is there anyone out there that has done anything more than let these apples collect dust on a dresser and become antique bricks ?

anyone purchased a broken one from ebay and fixed it ?

Very curious, as i am now without a laptop, without my bloody MBPs.
