I have a 3 rd generation IPAD that I bought in May 2012. I also have an Apple TV. Can I watch my IPAD on my Smart TV using my Apple TV and mirroring?

I have a 3rd generation Ipad that I bought in May 2012. I also have an Apple TV. Can I watch my Ipad on my big screen Smart TV using Apple TV and a technique called mirroring?


If yes, what do I do?
