i have a new iphone, trying to backup to icloud, however not enough space due to my old iphone, how do i back up the new iphone and then delete the old without losing my data?

If you no longer need the backup of your old phone, you can delete it from your iCloud account and free up the storage it occupies. This will only delete the backup; it won't do anything to the data on your phone or in your account. To delete the backup, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your old phone under Backups, then tap Delete Backup.
