How to import video via camera and where are videos located??

Hi all, i want to be able to import video from my camera to my imac, NOT using iphoto.

Is there a way to do it by going through the finder?

What I'm trying to do is import videos to adobe premiere and i don't want anything to do with iphoto. I like having all my video files on my imac in a folder in the finder so i can look at and organize the way i like it and the glitchy nature, freezing and unappealing looking of iphoto is why i want to stay away from iphoto.

1 more question, once a photo is imported through iphoto, is there a way to move it to the finder ? Thanks !

Does your camera use an SD card? If so, simply insert that card into the card reader (or a USB card reader) and drag the files off onto your desktop into a folder (just create one first); after that, you can import them into your app of choice. iPhoto is not required - I rarely use it. I do use iMovie though for my videos (along with Final Cut Express).
