4th Gen iPod Touch Facebook Messenger Issues

I have a 4th generation iPod touch with iOS 6.1.6 on it. I want to download Facebook Messenger on it because Facebook will soon be eliminating messaging from it's mobile app (and for the general convenience), but the messenger requires iOS 7, which my iPod is unable to get. My friend's 4th gen iPod touch with 6.1.6 can get messenger on it, but every time I try to download it, it says I need iOS 7. How can I access a version that is compatible with my iPod?

Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)

App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app

You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

download for the Facebook and Facebook messenger app versions available to download for iOS 6.1.6, preferably the most recent one before this iOS system that is compatible. Please and thank u.
