Q: Some imported music not showing up in iTunes (not purchased_

Hello all,

I recently realized that some of the music that I had imported long ago is not showing up in iTunes. The files are in my iTunes Music folder. This is not purchased music, but rather songs ripped from a CD (remember when we did that?).

These particular songs were imported several updates ago, so I'm reluctant to use this protocol in case it messes up other things: No content shows up in iTunes after updating

Is there an easy way to make sure that all the songs in the iTunes folder are catalogued in iTunes?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4), iTunes 11.3

I presume you are not using anything other than default iTunes advanced preferences settings.  If you are it is critical you tell people when you post here.

    Back up your computer.

Drag the Music folder in your iTunes Media folder your main iTunes music library list in the left sidebar.  This should add anything in that folder to iTunes that is not already recognized by iTunes as being in that folder.  It should not duplicate anything but if it does then something odd is happening with your music arrangement and you can undo this step by using the backup you did just before trying it.

"Drag the Music folder in your iTunes Media folder your main iTunes music library list in the left sidebar. "

Having trouble following this sentence... is there a "to" missing somewhere?

    Preferences are default.
