apple tv remote cannot be unpaired from macbook

As others on this forum my infrared remote control controls both my apple TV and my late 2008 macbook with OS X 10.9.4.

Whenever I unpair the remote from my macbook (either as user (using administrator pw) or when logged on as administrator and logging back on as user), or when I disable infrared remote control in the security pane. the remote continues to control the volume of my macbook en the play button continues to start iTunes (11.3 64 bits).

Does anybody else have this problem?
