Pop Ups on Safari with AdBlock Plus extension on

Dear Apple Community,

I have been having this issue with my 2013 MBP 13" Retina display where every time I open www.piratebay.se with Safari a pop up opens up even though I have Adblock Plus on. This issue only happens on this particular site and nowhere else. Any advice on this issue would be appreciated. Thank you

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)

An excellent link to read is Tom Reed's Mac Malware Guide.

Also, visit The XLab FAQs and read Detecting and avoiding malware and spyware.

If you require anti-virus protection Thomas Reed recommends using ClamXAV. (Thank you to Thomas Reed for this recommendation.)

From user Joe Bailey comes this equally useful advice:

The facts are:

1. There is no anti-malware software that can detect 100% of the malware out there.

2. There is no anti-malware that can detect anything targeting the Mac because there

is no Mac malware in the wild, and therefore, no "signatures" to detect.

3. The very best way to prevent the most attacks is for you as the user to be aware that

the most successful malware attacks rely on very sophisticated social engineering

techniques preying on human avarice, ****, and fear.

4. Internet popups saying the FBI, NSA, Microsoft, your ISP has detected malware on

your computer is intended to entice you to install their malware thinking it is a

protection against malware.

5. Some of the anti-malware products on the market are worse than the malware

from which they purport to protect you.

6. Be cautious where you go on the internet.

7. Only download anything from sites you know are safe.

8. Avoid links you receive in email, always be suspicious even if you get something

you think is from a friend, but you were not expecting.

9. If there is any question in your mind, then assume it is malware.

Dear Kappy,

Thank you for the reply, It was very helpful. There was another issue I have been having for a few months now. I have been having a wake/sleep issue with the laptop. Every time I'm using the laptop and it goes in to sleep I quickly swipe the trackpad to wake the computer up and I end up with this blank screen and all I can see is the mouse cursor. I think apple was aware of the issue and in 10.9.4 in the update description it said fixes issues with some laptops with sleep/wake issue. After the update I still had the same issues with no fix. I later took it to the apple store and they erased my whole computer and said not to use any back up and try using it as new again. Still having the same issue and its getting really annoying. Do you have any ideas what can be causing this or do you know of any fix for this issue? Thank you again in advance.

Hello Linc I also made a video of the black screen I get when trying to wake the computer up. I tried dragging the video in this window and it wasn't working. I uploaded the video to my dropbox account and am attaching the link to access it. Please do give me your input about the situation. Thank You

Thank you Lin Davis for your help. I really appreciate it. I have 1 last question if you could help me out with this as well. I have Adblock Plus ext installed on my Safari and what I have started noticing is that my web page loading as started lagging significantly. I don't know what has become more annoying the pop ups or the lag when loading web pages. Do I really need a Adblocker and if so is there any other alternative I can use. I am attaching this link where I have tried to get some help but everyone is having the same problem. Thank you for your help once again.
