Q: Pop Ups on Safari with AdBlock Plus extension on

Dear Apple Community,

I have been having this issue with my 2013 MBP 13" Retina display where every time I open www.piratebay.se with Safari a pop up opens up even though I have Adblock Plus on. This issue only happens on this particular site and nowhere else. Any advice on this issue would be appreciated. Thank you

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)

I was on my way back here to make a comment about PirateBay, but ~Bee beat me too it.

Most BitTorrent sites are run by Cybercriminals, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if you have malware on your computer, even if it hasn't infected you. All but one (still at large) of the founders & administrators of Pirate Bay have been arrested and convicted of International copyright infringement: Heavily Armed Police Storm Farm in Sweden, Arrest Pirate Bay Cofounder.

    Good one, MM!

There are so many dangers to using Torrents, I can't believe people are still using that crap.

As to fixing any Mac that the owner was uninformed enough to use Torrents:  All Bets are OFF!

thank you Bee for your input. The issue with pop ups have been resolved and thanks for your concern about using torrents. Last I checked i bought this laptop with my own money so i have the freedom to use it as I wish. But thanks for your concern anyway.

Regardless of that fact that it's against International law to use pirated software in all countries that I'm aware of, I don't think that's what she meant. I could care less what you do with your computer, but feel you should understand the risks to your OS and privacy associated with using such sites.

Hey MadMacs I definitely appreciate your input here but I think Im more worried about the NSA than the pirate bay. Piratebay might have broken some laws on copyright infringement but NSA broke multiple international laws and constitutional amendment laws on a whole different level. I don't think anyone is safe with privacy issues no matter what we do. I would actually recommend that you watch the documentary on the pirate bay and you will understand that they are from Norway, which is a socialist country. The whole country is built on the concept of for the people, The site they built and what they did was for the ppl. Those so called criminals are the ppl who provided secure servers for Wiki leaks so the american ppl can know the truth of what is going on, Just a few days ago it came out in the news that CIA was spying on their own govt and ppl from the govt spying on the CIA. So we don't even trust each other and I'm pretty sure all of our privacy was thrown out the window many years ago. We have no more privacy in this country anymore. For ppl who are judging other ppl due to their use of torrents is pretty ignorant because who gave the govt and private contractors for NSA the right to break laws when they feel like it. Why is it that if the common man does something everyone stands to judge while if someone in power did it we applaud and think its ok. The bottom line is that pirate bay is probably just as secure as any other website your using out there because the NSA is everywhere. But thanks again for your advice.

Since I'm not a terrorist, those other agencies are welcome to whatever they want to know about me, they already have documented records provided by me on almost every aspect of my life, anyway. I just don't want anybody stealing my money or identity.

I saw the PirateBay documentary when it first came out, so I know why they claim to have done. This is not an appropriate forum to discuss the views that either of us have about that, WikiLeaks, NSA, CIA, etc. It certainly isn't material to what this thread is all about.

As I said before, my only concern is that you appreciate that most BitTorrent sites may be after privacy information that can be used to steal from you. They are only in business to make money by any possible means.
