Places

I'm using iPhoto09. When I try to use Places, which is enabled in Preferences, all I get is a local Google map, and the search function in either iPhoto or Google does not work e.g. if I enter "New York" it doesn't find "New York" or anywhere else for that matter. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Hi there Wendy Booth,

This is most likely occurring because none of your photos have been assigned a location yet. Take a look at the articles below for more information. Note: The articles are written for iPhoto '11, but it should still apply to '09.

iPhoto '11: Places overview

iPhoto '11: Add places to your photos

After your photos have locations assigned, you can quickly find all the photos taken at specific places. You can also use the location information to include maps of your travels when you create a slideshow (using the Places theme) or a photo book.
