What app have you got on your iPad that you want to copy them to ? If you haven't got a PDF app on your iPad then there are free apps such as Apple's iBooks app and also apps such as Adobe Reader - and paid-for apps such as GoodReader (which also supports read-only viewing of other document types).

For iBooks you can add PDFs to the iBooks app on your Mac (if you OS X Mavericks on it) or to its iTunes (if not Mavericks) via File > Add To Library, and you can then sync them to the iBooks app on your iPad via its Books tab on your Mac's iTunes.

For other apps it depends upon what the app supports e.g. file sharing, copying via your wifi network, email, dropbox.

Thanks. I just downloaded Ibooks to my IPad today. I'll try that first. Then go looking for Adobe Reader for IPad (already have it on the Mac.)
