iPod and Radio remote

Hi all,

Hope you can help. My brother bought me an 'iPod Radio Remote' for my birthday. The manual states that all I have to do is plug it into my iPod, select Music and 'Radio' will appear in the menu. I've tried all this but 'Radio' doesn't appear. The manual also says I should have iPod version of at least 1.1 but I checked my settings and I apparently have 3.1.1

I only have a 20GB Click Wheel - is it that the radio remote isn't compatible with my old iPod?

The radio remote isn't compatible with your iPod; it only works with the Fifth Generation iPods and the iPod nanos. You have a fourth generation iPod.

ok so there's no use arguing why apple did not make any updates to the 4th gen ipods to use this featuer. it's obviously capitalizing consumers.

my question now is, i have a plan to upgrate to 5.5 gen ipods soon but i will purchase radio remote first. my older earphones are busted. will the earphone with remote be functional to 4th gen sans the radio function? thanks to your replies.

Yes, and also with the older iPods with dock connector, the remote will work, just not the radio.
