Q: burn a quicktime video
I imported a video into FCE from a miniDV and want to create and burn a quicktime copy on a DVD for future reference before I send it to IDVD. The quicktime movie I created is around 8gb and is too large to burn on a disc. It didn't take long to export to the desktop. I then tried quicktime conversion and reduced the quality to medium but it's taking hours to export. Much longer. Is this what I need to do to create a file small enough to burn on a dvd? Is there an easier way to
keep this info available for future use?

You could use dual -layer DVDs but I have found them to be rather unreliable so your best bet would be to split your video and export 2 x 4GB clips which will fit on 2 DVDs.
An alternative would be to export the video using H.264 at 2,000kbps
This would cut its size down to about 1GB and you will not notice any loss of quality.
If you wanted to re-edit it you would need to convert it back to DV.
