Aug 3, 2014 11:57 AM in response to Doris gby Courcoul,If your already have MS Word for iOS installed on the iPad and you use iTunes for backup and sync purposes, moving files to and from is simple.
Plug the iPad to the Mac and start up iTunes. Select the device in the sidebar and click on the Apps tab in its window. Below the Apps section, where you get to install or remove apps and/or rearrange them in the various screens, you'll see a File Sharing section. Scroll down the list of apps on the left pane till you find Word and click to select. The right pane will change to "Word Documents" and list any found in that app's private storage area.
- To upload to the iPad, click on the Add… button at the bottom of the documents pane. Or Drag & Drop from a Finder window.
- To download to the Mac, select the desired document in the list and click on Save To… Or Drag & Drop to a Finder window.
- To erase a document on the iPad, select it and press the Delete key.
Note that all changes go live immediately. You do NOT need to Sync or anything. This does not affect the apps; only Word documents stored in that app's private storage area. Apps are sandboxed so they don't affect others.
All MS Office for iOS apps are free download. They will work as viewers (read/only) until you pay for an Office365 subscription. There are other apps capable of working with Office docs, such as SmartOffice, QuickOffice, etc. Some are free. Moving documents to them can be done in the same fashion, just selecting the appropriate app.

Aug 3, 2014 11:59 AM in response to Doris gby Demo,You need an app on the iPad that works with Word documents. You can email them to yourself, and read them in the mail app, but if you want to save and edit them, you will need an app for that. the Apple Pages app is compatible with Word files and Microsoft released Office for the iPad, but the free apps are read only. You have to subscribe to Office 365 in order to be able to edit the files on the iPad.
To get to the heart of your question, you can us iOS file sharing with iTunes in order to get the files to the iPad, or you can use DropBox or if you are using Pages, you can sync the documents using iCloud.
