Iphone 4 catching fire

My iPhone 4 caught fire while charging, it made this loud pop and began shooting a flame from the headphone jack and making a crackling sound with stinky black smoke flowing from it. Luckily I was in my bedroom when this happened and was able to put the fire out or this could of been catastrophic! Since the incident I've been reading online about similar happenings and when people report it to Apple they deny it being an issue. I can report it is a very real issue that needs to be addressed, a very real safety issue that could injury someone or end their life. My phone had been charging for less than 2 hrs with the charging cord and plug that came with the phone. The iPhone was completely dead when I plugged it in to begin charging and after 2-4 minutes It showed charging activity. As I stated flames were shooting from the headphone jack and after the phone cooled down and I was able to inspect it I can see that the phone burst from the seam starting in the upper left hand corner and the screen and back plate have melted areas on them. I can take pictures and post or email if anyone needs to see them. This should be very concerning to anyone that charges their phone while they sleep or while they are out of line of sight of their device.....if this happened to me this could happen to anyone, PLEASE BEWARE!
