Howard, curious if you received a bogus-seeming iTunes store email charging you $899 for this. I did, just a few moments ago, and strongly suspect it's bogus (went to a strange email address, included the "PDF Invoice" as a zip I will not open, and no trace of it in my iTunes purchase history).
Similar story on your end? I tried to reach a human at Apple but of course no joy there.
Hi Edward,
Yes we did! I wonder if we were really charged? Were you?
Howard
It is a phishing attempt. Do not respond. Do not divulge any personal or financial information. You can use the address below to report the phishing attempt to Apple.
mailto:reportphishing@apple.com
The link below has information to help identify fraudulent emails.
I can't see that I was based on my iTunes purchase history, but then it went to an oddball email address which somehow found its way to me, so I'm not sure which Apple account it would hit. In the mean time I found this earlier thread (2012) which identifies is as a phishing scam: Re: Charge for iRa Pro in my Store account but product was not purchased? So we're probably OK. I trust you didn't click any links.....
Thanks, perfect, I'll report it!
Right - I didn't click any. I tried to research it through the Apple web site but that product doesn't exist.
Good luck!
Howard
Just looking at the raw message header in the email I see the return path is nylons@relocationma.com, which sure doesn't sound like an Apple address......
You are quite welcome.
I got the same email today, only now they are flying under this email: store@apple.com
I still think this is a phishing scam too but how did they get access to the actual apple.com server and create that address???
that is because the real store is store.apple.com not store@apple.com (possibly a redirect on the URL)
