I shut my eMac down for five weeks this Summer.
Ever since I've gotten back it has frozen when iTunes are opened.
After hooking up an ethernet cord I can usually download podcasts without the eMac freezing.
I don't know if the Airport Express is the problem.
I mainly use the eMac for iTunes downloading.

Did you unplug the eMac from the wall outlet while you were away? If so, the internal backup battery ("PRAM" battery, informally) is surely dead. Replacing it is an easy do-it-yourseld job; Apple's instructions are here:
