Alternatively you can try running fsck in single user mode.
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck

Aug 4, 2014 10:44 AM in response to 213JBby Raj_LA,I can get into single mode,but /sbin/fsck -fy checks the OS X base system volume. Its not checking the "Macintosh HD" the main hard drive. I think its not mounting the drive.

Genius bar does not charge to diagnose.
It could be the flex cable connection, or hard drive bracket, or the hard drive its self.
