Aug 4, 2014 1:45 PM in response to pebrain21by robdrage,You need an airplay receiver of some sort which AppleTV is one.
both your phone and PC software are acting as Airplay transmitters.
There is an App for Mac OS that allows that allows the Mac to be a receiver, and I believe that Mavericks has it built in.

Aug 4, 2014 2:01 PM in response to robdrageby pebrain21,I'm running Mavericks but I don't see any settings for turning on Airplay. Where should I look. I have a mac mini but I don't have an apple display.
I'm trying to get this: http://www.x-mirage.com/x-mirage/how-it-works.html it says that it can work with a PC and I don't see how. All it says is that as long as your idevice and your pc are on the same wifi network, it will work. It doesn't.

If you have a Mac then trying posting your question in the MAC forum, you may get more results.

Then you should click on their support link to find out why. I don't see it as an Apple issue.

Are you certain that the PC and iOS devices are on the same exact Wi-Fi network? Make sure you're not connecting to a "guest network", or parallel 5 GHz network that the PC may not connect to.

Aug 5, 2014 6:16 AM in response to razmee209by pebrain21,it's an apple issue because the piece of software requires that the iPAD or Iphone that I want to display on my PC screen have airplay. I don't have the airplay "button" to click on in the control center so that I can set up mirroring.

Aug 5, 2014 6:18 AM in response to rockmyplimsoulby pebrain21,Yes. I'm on my home wireless network. I verified on both the PC and the iPhone and iPad that I am connected to the same wireless network. No Matter, I've given up and gone with another piece of software anyway. Thanks.
