I'm trying to connect an eclipse fit clip plus mp3 player to my Macbook Air. They don't seem to recognize eachother. Can someone please help?

Just purchased one this morning. I keep a mini/micro usb cable hooked up to my computer and had the same issue. Switched it to the cable it came with and showed up just fine.
