Aug 5, 2014 3:36 AM in response to Mewett1184by Demo,Are the documents in iTunes? Do you use iOS file sharing? Take a look at this first.
Do you use iCloud with Pages? If you are using iCloud with Pages, the documents should be in the cloud. Did you look to see in iCloud.com using a web browser on your computer? If they are there, they should download again to the iPad if iCloud is on for Pages. Go to Setting>Pages>iCloud>On. If that is set to on, the documents should begin to download to the iPad when you launch Pages.
Also check Settings>iCloud>Documents & Data>On.

Aug 5, 2014 3:48 AM in response to Demoby Mewett1184,thank you Demo for all that information but alas they are not in iTunes I just checked and no I did notknow I could use iCloud
in pages so there not there either, I checked. I expect that they are gone, i should have taken more care in transferring everything rather that just rushing in.

Aug 5, 2014 3:48 AM in response to Mewett1184by Demo,I assume that you already tried this, but did you restore the new iPad from the backup of the old one? You have to restore the backup in order to restore the app data. Syncing alone doesn't transfer data which is stored in the backup?

Aug 5, 2014 3:54 AM in response to Demoby Mewett1184,yes I backed Up from the old one, but since then my new iPad has backed itself up so I no longer have the backup from my old iPad, or is there a way of getting to it?

Aug 5, 2014 4:04 AM in response to Mewett1184by Demo,★HelpfulNo. That backup has been overwritten. I don't know how often you backup, but you might have an older backup that you can restore. Normally, you don't want to go to far back, but since you lost all of your data, if you could retrieve any of it, that would be better than nothing.
When you restore from the backup, a pop up window appears with a drop down menu that lets you select from any availabe backups that you have that you can restore from. Did you check to see if you have another one? You can also see your backups if you launch iTunes and go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices (Mac) or Edit>Preferences>Devices (Windows).

Aug 5, 2014 6:53 AM in response to Demoby Courcoul,If you back the iGadgets thru iTunes on a computer (not the iCloud), each device has its own separate and individual backup container, indexed and identified by its serial #. By default there will be only one and gets overwritten at each backup of the device, but you can use the Archive feature to keep more than one of a device. I keep an archival backup of each iGadget every time iOS gets bumped up a number.
See Preferences / Devices in iTunes. Hover the cursor over each backup listed there for identifying info. Control-click on each for more options.
There are utilities that can read and interpret the contents of those backups, giving you more options in retrieving past content. I use DigiDNA's DiskAid, trialware and free for educational users.

Aug 5, 2014 7:43 AM in response to Courcoulby Demo,I am aware of this. I have about one dozen archived backups for my iPad and at least 7 or 8 backups for my iPhone Via the archive feature. Why I keep so many is beyond me, but I do.
