How to lengthen tracks on garageband

Is it possible to lengthen a backing track using GB. I have a backing track that I'd like to play over but its very short. Anyway to make it longer?

GarageBand (Mac) '11, OS X Mavericks (10.9.3), GARAGEBAND 10.02

Select your backing track region and grab the upper right corner. The cursor should turn into a curved arrow. Now frog the corner to the right, to loop the region. Extend it, as far as you want. The looped parts of the backing track region will appear to be dimmed.

To trim the region to an exact number of measures you can grab the left or right border of the region and drag the border inside.

Where the caption is in the above pic is mid way into the track, yes?

The caption is at the end of the region, before I dragged it to lengthen it.

What about if I want to start lengthening at 12 measures for example?

Then cut the region at measure 12. Position the cursor at the place, where you want to start repeating the region. Press the key combination ⌘T to split the region and delete the cut off part. Then grab the upper right corner of the shortened region to loop it.
