Q: Battery life on 4s

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone else is having issues with battery life on Iphone 4s? I have had this phone for a year now and only in the last few weeks is the battery doing crazy stuff.

As soon as I enable 3g - EVEN FROM A FULL CHARGE - I get the plug it in, low battery icon straight away and then screen gets the little wheel that goes round and round and then dies.  It mostly happens when using facebook and running apps  I even bought a mophie case to get around this and it does not make any difference - though it switches the phone back on - then the phone says its has say 65% battery. Very frustrating. I have done a full restore - though not to factory settings  )as I wondered whether I would loose everything.) Although I understand that this is up in the icloud somewhere!

HELP

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.6

Did you purchase the phone used? As for your factory settings question your phone's data won't be in 'the cloud' somewhere unless you have done an iCloud backup or to your computer through iTunes. If you do a Erase All Content and Settings and the battery is still not holding a charge it may be time for a new battery. Go to an Apple store or an Authorized Repair Center and and have it checked out.

From my own experience and from observations made here I do think it is the prudent thing to do. Will it help? No one can say for sure but its a tool that often works. You should get your apps back. I say should because it's possible some apps you have may no longer be available to re-download. Apps get pulled off the App store for various reasons and so there's no guarantee they will still be there. The only way to be sure is to search for them before doing the erase and not taking for granted they are still there. On the other hand you should have a copy of them in your iTunes library if you haven't deleted them. Do a backup to your computer before doing anything. Personally I think having a backup on your computer is better than in the cloud. Both is better yet. What you will lose are saved passwords like your wifi or website logins, mail, messages, etc. If you have some mail you want to keep and it's only found on your phone forward it to a email address on a computer.

As for the battery, like most things they can unfortunately fail prematurely. I suspect it's the battery but can't say for sure.
