Q: Help!! Song is only playing AAC created version

So yesterday, I purchased and downloaded a song that I really love on my iPhone. I viewed the article on this website to create a AAC version to also make it a ringtone however, it would not label as a tone, it just stayed in the library. I went to just listen to the song in the library and now it is only playing the small 30 second AAC version of the song instead of the whole song now. I have bought the same song twice. Can someone please help me to restore the original song so I can listen to it again. I don't even want to try and make the ringtone anymore. Thanks in advance!

When you create a new file in the same format as the original you will end up with two pretty much indistinguishable files tracks in iTunes as far as labeling goes.  The difference will be in the duration or "time".  If you deleted one track already you may have deleted the original and are left with the short version.  If your country permits you can try re-downloading the track.  You will first need to completely delete the track from iTunes.

Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not all media formats are available in all countries (see: iTunes in the Cloud, iTunes Match, and iTunes Radio availability by country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085); apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this).  Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones, audiobooks), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple recommends,  "... back up your iTunes library. " (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519).

    Additional tip at https://discussions.apple.com/message/24176756#24176756

Select the iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes if you have the sidebar displayed, or with the button at the top right.

Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links (see https://discussions.apple.com/message/26364186#26364186)

You can re-download your available previous purchases.

    Hi Limnos,

You know I think I may have deleted the original song. There were two at one point, however, I have tried to re-download several times and it still shows the duration of the song which is 5:03, but only plays the selected 30 seconds. Any other suggestions?

I personally have never encountered this situation, I can only make suggestions.

Get info on the track and see if the play limits you set on it while trying to make a ringtone are still in effect.

    Limno,

The areas are grayed out but it seems to be accurate as far as the time frame of the song.
