can vlc player damage the hardware and speakers??

i don't use my quick time player..! i generally use vlc for watching movies and even songs better sound output.. i meant for loudness...is it safe??.. one of my friends referred that he is using a dell laptop and he got sound issue.. so the dell service suggested him to uninstall vlc and win amp.
