Q: 10.9.4 don't let me set 2560 x 1440 on NEC external monitor
Since I update to Mavericks my iMac 27´´ mid 2011 (i7 3.4Ghz, 32 GB RAM, Radeon HD 6970M ) Can´t set my NEC PA302W external monitor to 2560x1440 resolution.
If I connect the monitor to my MacBook pro (Mountain Lion) I can set that resolution without any problem.
Any suggestions?

System Preferences->Displays->OPTION-click scaled which reveals all resolutions http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=2013103013020613. Also, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5891 and http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13814
If none of those do what you want, download the cscreen executable from http://www.pyehouse.com/cscreen/ and use it to reset the resolution to suit your needs.
Place cscreen in your /Applications folder. Then, run these commands in the Terminal app:
cscreen -> gives you the display ID, index, width, height, and refresh rate for all connected displays.
Use this to change the resolution for the indicated display:
/Applications/CScreen -s INDEX -x HRES -y VRES
The value for "INDEX" is the display numberand the values for "HRES" and "VRES" are respectively the horizontal and vertical screen resolution settings you would like to use.
