Q: Why can't I spend my credit?

I have received an iTunes gift card, added the credit to my account and it is showing on my account; however, whenever I try to buy something it is trying to take the funds from my credit card. Why?

 

On other forums I have seen mention of a 'none' option, but that is not available to me.

 

Please can someone help?

    What actually happens when you try to buy something, what messages/screens do you see ? If you have card details on your account then they need to be valid e.g. are you being prompted to go to the payment details screen because of an error with them ?

     

    For the 'none' option, you should be able to remove your card's details either directly on your phone : tap on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and tap on 'View Apple ID' on the popup and log into your account  - that should give you a payments link on your account's page. Or via your computer's iTunes by going into the Store > View Account menu option and logging into your account, and on your account's details page there should be a payment link.
