AVCHD Files "Greyed Out" In Import Screen

Hello-

I am a new user to FCPX, and I am having a bit of trouble when trying to import my AVCHD file to FCPX. I am running FCPX 10.1.2 on a MacBook Pro OSX v. 10.9.4 with an Intel Core i5 2.4GHz processor, Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB and I am trying to import an AVCHD file from my Panasonic AG-AC90PJ. My file currently resides on a SanDisc Ultra 30MB 64GB SDXC card. However, when I try to import the AVCHD file, it appears "greyed out" in the import window (see below)

I've tried importing it directly to my HD from the SD Card, with the same result when trying to import into FCP. Also, I've tried connecting my camera directly with the SD card inserted via USB 2.0, with yet again the same result. Does anyone have some experience with how to successfully download this file?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

meant as a workaround to get your precious videos into FCPX:

//work with a copy of your card!//

in Finder, open that Private Folder, right-click on that AVCHD file, choose 'Open package', next level, Open Package of 'BDMV', and finally in in the 'Stream' folder you'll find your .mts files. You can drag them out of that location (again: work with a copy of your card!) ... FCPX should be able to import those 'naked' mts as files ..

_______________

back to your original problem:

in Finder, select your card, cmd-i ... what does it tell how the card is formatted? ....
