Q: Kernel Panic

Hello everyone.

One day my computer started to show some problems.

I discovered that the battery had reached more than 1500 cycles and I decided to change the battery and I thought that was the problem.

Now I have changed the battery but the kernel panics continue to happen.

One day I decided to put the macbook in safe mode and from that day the macbook turns on automatically in safe mode (shift key works perfectly, it's not locked).

I also tried to reset the SMC and PRAM, but nothing is changed.

I did a logout from my account and when I restarted the macbook didn't have ask to enter any data and it log me in automatically.

Another thing that happens to the macbook is the temperature rise of the body.

This is the report of the kernel panic.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

I suggest ridding the MBP of Little Snitch, but that may not be the reason for the kernel panics.

    Run an Apple Hardware Test:

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1509

Download and post an EtreCheck report:

    http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck

Perhaps there will be some clues in these items.

    Ciao.

    Ciao!

First of all thank you for your reply.

I used the AHT both the normal mode and the advanced one.

The result was good, no error detected.

I did these test without removing Little Snitch.

    Here are some suggestions:

As already mentioned, get rid of Little Snitch.

You HDD is very near capacity.  Delete and transfer files to an external HDD of at least 25 GB of data.  Consider installing a larger internal HD.  They now come up to 2 TB in capacity.  I have a i TB Seagate SSHD in my MBP.

You have some applications that I am not familiar with.  They may be part of the problem.  Transfer all third party applications to an external HDD and reinstall them systematically until the MBP has a kernel panic.  That should allow you to determine the 'problem child'.

    Ciao.

Ok, I will try to do that.

So, I also use utility disc and it said that I have to fix the disc.

    My question is:

If I boot my macbook from the os x cd and than I will use utility disc to fix it my hd will be formatted?

I would do that before doing your advices, what do you think?

Thank you again again for your reply.

It will not hurt to run Disk Utility>First Aid and it will have no affect on the HDD format.

Start the MBP with the Snow leopard Disk in the slot with the C key down.

When the display shows a menu bar on top, click on UTILITIES.

From the drop down menu, select Disk Utility.

Select Disk Utility>First Aid and run Verify and Repair.

    Exit the install process.

    Ciao.

Just try to fix but my macbook said that isn't possible to fix and also said to backup everything and format.

Maybe we find the main problem.

What do you think about the upgrade of the OS instead of format the HD?

If the HDD could not be repaired, you will have to replace it with a new one.  A change of the OSX will not make any difference,  This is a hardware failure.

When you install the new HDD, then you may decide what OSX you want to use.

    Ciao.

Ok. So the kernel panic could be resolved by replacong the HDD?

I want to say another thing.

When the temperature is to high the warmest place is the top left corner (near the esc button).

    Why?

Sorry but I cannot give you a definitive answer on that.  In general, there must be some heat producing components in that portion of the MBP.  Obviously all parts of the MBP are not at the same temperature.

    Hello.

Before buying a new HDD I tried to install the OS X on a pen drive and another kernel panic was shown.

Is this happened because of the HDD it's already connected?

    Thank you.

I would first free up space on the HDD (which I mentioned earlier).  Then try a safe boot and see if then you can install an OSX on the USB thumb drive.

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564

If no success, post the latest kernel panic report.  Maybe there will be a clue.

    Ciao.
