How to set up Airport Extreme 6th Gen for Windows 7
Hey everyone! Yesterday I purchased a 6th Gen-Airport Extreme to boost the connection radius and quality in my home. Apple didn't really leave a lot of help to people who use Windows, or at least it seems that way. The manual only talked about setting it up with OSX. I started off fine, connecting the airport extreme to my router/modem with an ethernet cable. I plugged in the airport and it was blinking amber like it should be when it isn't set up. I downloaded the latest Windows Airport software download, which is 5.6.1. After downloading and installing the Airport software, I opened it up and my airport extreme appeared on the side column where it should be. The issue is, I've tried setting it up both as a new connection and an extension of my current one. Neither one seemed to work properly, with no difference in speed, just the addition of a new network. It would be great if someone could walk me through setting up the 6th Gen Airport Extreme in detail on a computer running windows 7, as I'm really confused. The only other option I have is borrowing my friends macbook to set it up, as the mac version of airport seems so much more user friendly and helpful. Thanks everyone 🙂
