Q: Apple repair service?

I am using Apples repair service to fix my cracked iPod touch. After submitting my repair request I was sent an email (following) stating that if you have an iPhone or iPad, they would send a box, and if you have an iPod you would have to package it up yourself and send it to the stated address.

iPhone and iPad Customers:
Within two business days, you should receive a shipping box at the address
shown below. It will come with instructions for sending us your product.

iPod Customers:
We recommend that you pack your product in its original packaging or a suitable
alternative. Ship the package using a courier service that provides a tracking
number and proof of delivery. You may want to insure the value of the product
when arranging shipment, because this won't be covered by Apple. Address the
package as follows:

Apple Service Operations
ATTN: WUR Service, Repair ID A130772137
INTERNAL ACCT FOR SACRAMENTO RC
3011 LAGUNA BLVD
ELK GROVE, CA 95758-7412
United States

Just this morning  I went to the Post Office and sent out my  iPod. Immediately after coming home, an empty box from apple was dropped off.  On the inside of the label it states that if I fail to follow instructions on returning the part, I will be charged a fee of $149.00.

Will my iPod still make it to the repair service the same as if I had sent it in the box that came? And will I be charged?

iPod touch, Windows 8
