Android <> iOS Bluetooth Communication

I use an android smartphone and an ipad 2 Mini. Initiating pairing works. Both devices can see each other over Bluetooth. The pairing code gets displayed on both devices. I can only confirm the identical codes. That's about it because they won't communicate. ios settings tell me that the device is inaccessible when I click on the smartphone under ios device settings. Vice versa file transfers from phone to tablet aren't successful either. Is it impossible to enable bluetooth communication between android and ios?

The PAN profile lets you play against each other in the same game on both devices (if the game supports it), and if you have the same app on both devices (and they support Bluetooth transfer) then you might also be able to copy content between them - but the app needs to support it. And AirDrop on newer iOS devices can also potentially user Bluetooth to copy content.

Well apple works fine if used in its isolated universe. The quirks are even there with standardized protocols like BT. I guess the emphasis is on the word *same* so it may work if I had the same app on both sides. But sending a file from an Android phone image gallery to Apple Ipad 2 is a task which can't be accomplished.

Thank you for helping me. I'd think about the WLAN flash drive if I transferred larger files regularly. For now Dropbox and such are enough. Or emailing myself.
