Aug 9, 2014 10:12 AM in response to sshafer1964by FoxFifth,Here is one method: The following is an example of splitting into 3 parts:
1) open the original file, select (highlight) the first 1/3 then Copy (Edit menu or Command C).
2) open a new blank document (Excel or a word processor document if CSV) and Paste
3) save the new document
4) repeat step 1 but copy the second 1/3 this time and create a new blank document each time
etc
etc
None of my business, but why do you need to split it into multiple smaller files -- not a common requirement?

Aug 10, 2014 10:19 AM in response to FoxFifthby sshafer1964,Well, just one of the files has over 2,000,000 lines in it and I have a program that i need to add e-mail addresses (not spam) into but they will not accept over 40,000 entries at a time. I can do it the manual way like you suggested but I don't have that much time to spend on it.

Aug 10, 2014 1:14 PM in response to sshafer1964by Jan Hedlund,You may also want to try a compression program with file-splitting abilities (one example at http://kb.winzip.com/help/help_splitdlg.htm)

However, that is only going to be useful if a certain file size (MB) is needed (for example, for transfers via email).
It will not help if the reason for splitting is a limited number of allowed entries in another program, as the case appears to be here. If so, the document somehow has to be divided/segmented within the original application.

Feb 10, 2015 7:03 PM in response to sshafer1964by ericguuu,split [-a suffix_length] [-b byte_count[k|m]] [-l line_count] [-p pattern] [file [name]]
is a native Terminal command. Read up more on https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/ man1/split.1.html
I prefer to use gSplit which is gnu coreutils.
You can install gnu coreutils using homebrew.
