Q: messages doesn't work in osx

Messages has never worked for me in OSX, but it only recently became a problem when my iPhone went down for the count and I tried to turn to my CPU to manage my messages.  No luck.  I can use Messages from a guest user -- but under my own user account, while I can log in, it fails to send/receive any messages.  I've deleted all the apple.com preference files to the point that I've managed to reset the program and re-enter my apple ID -- but no luck.  Don't really need the program now that I got a new phone, just find it frustrating is all.  Would appreciate any feedback...

This issue has come up a few times, and I have not found out what causes it. Rather than using you as a guinea pig for experimentation, I suggest you either contact Apple Support or make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store. There may be an internal service bulletin about the issue. Please update this thread if you get a resolution that way.

Thank you for your help.  What finally did the trick was creating a new admin account and transferring things from the one user file to the other (manually).  This was a royal pain and took ~3 hours.  But given the time and frustration that was already sunk into this (only just realized that FaceTime was also not working), well worth it. What a pain...

    I did mean that one.

I went to the pane on my computer and noted I had got it wrong but forgot to change the word before posting.

I see you used another way around the issue.
