Q: Sleep Mode Issue: Macbook Pro

I have recently noticed that when I plug my macbook pro in to charge, after a while the sleep light stops blinking. When I open it, the screen is a see through grey and shows a loading bar. It also makes the noise it makes when I power it on. This only happens when it is plugged in to the charger. I was wondering what is causing this and how I can fix it. Thanks
