Wifi not connecting to home wifi

I am experiencing a very strange problem. Recently I have been unable to use my home network, the computer connects but nothing loads, Chrome displays "resolving host..." and Safari does not do anything. I have tried deleting the network and resetting it, no luck. The strange this is if I use a public wifi network it is fine. What would cause this, I have even tried changing the DNS to a public and no luck as well. This is very frustrating since I rely on my computer at home daily. Hopefully someone is able to assist with this, I don't know what else to do.

My system:

Macbook ('07)

OS 10.6.8

2.16 Ghz intel core 2

2GB Ram

Thanks

MacBook (13-inch Mid 2007), Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Network preferences may be corrupted ...

Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder

Type or copy paste the following:

/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration

Click Go then move all the files in the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.

Restart your Mac then try your network.

If that doesn’t help, try here > Wi-Fi: How to troubleshoot Wi-Fi connectivity

Your Mac will generate a new SystemConfiguration folder for you.
