Skype 5.2.1 iPod touch 4th generation iOS 6.1.6

Hello,

I have an iPod Touch 4th generation with iOS 6.1.6.

I have always used Skype on my iPod.

On 22 July 2014, Skype requested me to download the newer version of Skype (version 5.2.1).

I did, but Skype was not installed because "Skype requires a newer version of iPod software" (Message of error from iTunes).

The Skype customer care was not able to help me nor they could answer to my question:

"Does Skype 5.2.1 function on iPod Touch 4th generation iOS 6.1.6?"

Thanks to All in advance

iPod touch, iOS 6.1.6, Skype does work any longer

No, you will have to use the last compatible version\

Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)

App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club

App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app

You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

the 4G does not have enough memory (only has 256 MB) to support iOS 7.

If the last version of Skype that was compatible with iOS 6 is not available from the App Store then you only way would be if yo had a compatible version on your computer such as in a computer file backup.

However, sometimes a developer changes the service so that previous versions will not work.
